About Us

The Lupus Foundation of Southern California is a 501(c)(3) non-profit health agency. We originated as a small support group for local lupus patients, which gradually grew and became the San Diego Chapter of The American Lupus Society (TALS) in 1976. In August of 1996, TALS merged with the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA). Since then we have become the Lupus Foundation of Southern California San Diego/Imperial County. We are a patient-oriented, non-profit, volunteer health agency. Various support groups are held throughout San Diego and Imperial County, and quarterly seminars are held that we feel are pertinent to people with lupus.  They are always free and open to the public. Please see our calendar for the next scheduled seminar.

We are always looking for ways to improve the services we provide and to expand our services to other parts of the county.  If you have thoughts on the direction our organization should take or programs you feel we should incorporate, please call the office with your ideas. (858) 278-2788
