Support Groups

The Lupus Foundation offers several support groups around San Diego County and we are working on opening new groups in more areas.

The process of adjusting to chronic illness is difficult and complex. The positive approach of a support group helps the participants overcome the feeling of helplessness and gives them confidence to take control of their lives.

The therapeutic potential for these informal discussions will be to encourage the expression of common problems, methods of coping with emotional and physical stress, family relationships, and guidelines for living a productive life without fear of being criticized. Occasionally, professional guest speakers provide additional information and offer a time for questions and answers.

“Let’s Talk” support groups promote the sharing of feelings, experiences and information. All lupus patients, their family and friends are encouraged to attend.  We do try to keep our meetings upbeat and positive!
